Hyperbaric therapy has been my saving grace. I have been battling endometriosis for many years. Endometriosis is a condition in which endothelial cells grow outside the uterus. Although this would not seem to be a problem, it is very painful. The endometrial tissues/cells swell and try to shed themselves from the area in which they are attached each month. Because the tissues continue to multiple they will eventually need to be removed surgically. Other than surgical removal of the tissues, hormone therapy is used to shrink the cells and stop the process of swelling, shedding, and spreading. The menopausal hormone therapy used to treat endometriosis is as bad as or worse than the condition. After an unsuccessful round of hormone therapy, I was in more pain than ever. I had scheduled surgery for the second week of March; however, one week before surgery I tore the cartilage in my knee. Because of the knee injury, I would have to wait on the surgery for my endometriosis. My sister finally convinced me to try hyperbaric therapy. I am so thankful that I was able to get in the chamber. Not only did it help relieve a lot of the pain and swelling from my endometriosis, it aided me with my knee surgery. With three to four sessions per week, I was ready for my second surgery in just three weeks. The results I encountered with hyperbaric therapy are simply amazing. The incisions from my knee surgery healed very quickly with a barely noticeable scar. Even my physical therapist commented on my scars and progress. The results I encountered with my second surgery were no less amazing than the first. I feel that the anesthesia was removed from my system faster. The swelling was minimal and was gone quickly and the scars again are barely noticeable. I am so thankful that I had hyperbaric therapy available to assist me with my surgeries this year. I am sold on the benefits of hyperbaric therapy for surgical recovery and as important tool to maintain good health and in the anti-aging battle.
